Our Staff
Our staff consists of Certified Medical Assistants (CMA's), a Registered
Nurse (RN), a Receptionist, a Scheduling Coordinator, Office Assistants, a
Transcriptionist, a Billing Specialist, and an Office Manager. They will be
able to assist you with any nursing or insurance problems you might have.

Appointments
Patients are seen by appointments and you can
usually see one of our physicians within a week of calling for an
appointment. However, if you have an urgent or emergent problem, please let
us know as soon as possible. Because our work often involves emergencies,
unexpected delays are unavoidable. We will try to let you know anytime there
is a delay in keeping our appointments. We appreciate your patience when
this happens. If you cannot keep your appointment, please give at least 24
hours notice. This permits us to take care of other patients and/or
emergencies.

New Patient Registration
If this is your first visit, or you have not been here for over 1 year, you
will be asked to give us information which is necessary in helping us
provide you with the best possible care. Please bring your insurance card(s)
and/or referral with you. If you have been referred to us by another
physician, please bring a list of all your current medicines, laboratory
reports, and any x-ray films and reports you may have. This will help us
with your care, prevent delays, and eliminate unnecessary retesting.

Emergencies
Emergencies are unpredictable. If something arises that needs immediate
attention and the office is closed, you can reach you physician, or the
physician on-call, by calling our office or paging system.
Hospitalization
Bluegrass Surgical Group Division physicians admit to all Lexington
hospitals, as well as Bourbon Community Hospital. If you have a preference
of hospitals, please let us know.
Medication Refills
We gladly take prescription refill requests from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday
- Friday. It is important for the physicians and staff to have access to
your medical record. Therefore, unless it is an emergency, please do not
call after hours, on weekends, or holidays for prescription refills.
* It is
the policy of our office not to renew pain medication prescriptions by
anyone other than your personal physician. Please call for a refill
2 days prior to running out of medicine.
Our
specialty is General, Vascular and Colorectal surgery, as well as
Laparascopic Surgery and Endoscopy. We all have extensive training and
experience in those areas. When dealing with complex cases or with medical
problems outside our expertise, we may ask other physicians for their
assistance. For example, we may ask another physician to help us manage your
diabetes, high blood pressure, or other medical problems.
If you
have an operation, we will frequently ask another physician to assist in the
operating room. Usually, it is one of the other members of our organization.
This is done to provide you with the safest, smoothest, most efficient
operation possible.
Anesthesia services are often required for the work we do. There are several
physicians who provide this service and we work with all of them. If you
have a preference, please let us know. Otherwise, we will select a physician
to provide your anesthesia when your operation is scheduled. You will be
billed separately by the anesthesiologist for his/her services.
If
you have any questions or comments about our practice, please call us at
859-276-5262.

Charges, Billing, And Payments
It is important for you to know what is expected of you when you are billed.
Our fees are fair and generally about the same as other qualified surgeons
in this area. Once a month you will receive a statement covering our
charges, showing any amount filed to your insurance company, and insurance
or cash payments, and the remaining balance due. If there is a balance
due after your insurance has paid and you are unable to pay the full amount,
please feel free to call our billing service Commonwealth Physician Billing
Service at (859) 277-9436. We understand that at times you may have
temporary financial problems and they will be happy to discuss a reasonable
payment plan. We are only able to help you if make us aware of your problem.
Please note that all copayments, deductibles, and non- covered services are
due at the time services are rendered. For your convenience we accept
cash, personal checks, VISA and MasterCard.

Telephone Assistance
If you have questions or need to know test results please call during
regular office hours. Your records are easily available and our staff can be
more helpful and accurate. Many routine, non-emergency calls can be handled
by our nurses and office personnel. They often can answer your questions
after checking your record or talking with your physician. We make a
conscientious effort to call our patients with test results, biopsy reports
etc. However, we can get busy at times and may overlook something of
importance to you. If you do not hear from us within a reasonable time,
please call the office
